EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA – In a packed crowd of 3,750 nominees, Starkey has announced that the Livio Edge AI has been selected as a winner of this year’s MedTech Breakthrough Awards. The awards honor excellence and recognize the creativity, hard work and success of health, fitness and medical technology companies, platforms, people and products around the globe. Livio Edge AI earned the award in the “Best New Technology Solution – Hearing Aid” category.

“I’m proud of the entire Starkey team for taking bold steps to push technological boundaries and transform the hearing healthcare industry. Because of their ingenuity, people with hearing loss are able to remain connected to their loved ones in an increasingly digital world. We are humbled to be recognized for these efforts.”

Starkey President, Brandon Sawalich

The MedTech Breakthrough program assembles a panel of industry experts to evaluate submissions using the following criteria: innovation, performance, ease of use and manageability, functionality, value, and impact. Starkey “is proud to represent these values and to revolutionize our industry so patients can hear and live better”.

Utilizing artificial intelligence, embedded sensors and machine learning, the Livio Edge AI “goes beyond traditional hearing aids with fall detection and alerts, encourages social engagement and physical activity, while delivering never-before-possible sound performance”. In Edge Mode, which is activated by a double tap, the device “instantaneously conducts an AI-based analysis of the environment and makes immediate sound adjustments, even in the most challenging listening environments”.
