Hearing Health & Technology Matters, through FindHearing, has teamed up
with the Ida Institute, an independent non-profit organization, to help promote person-centered care in audiology and hearing healthcare.
The collaboration with the Ida Institute will allow people with hearing loss across the US and Canada to find hearing care professionals and clinics that carry the ‘Inspired by Ida’ label, a benchmark of quality that signals their dedication to person-centered care.
What is Inspired by Ida?
Inspired by Ida is a program from the Ida Institute that aims to advance person-centered care in audiology.
The program offers training to practitioners and clinics in how to apply person-centered methods and tools. By completing the program, they receive the Inspired by Ida label – a benchmark of quality that signals their dedication to person-centered care.
The Inspired philosophy
People are more satisfied with their care when they have the opportunity and support to make decisions about their own treatment.
Person-centered care allows people to articulate their needs better and make shared decisions with their hearing care professional. This enables them to play a more active role in their own care while managing their hearing more effectively.
This philosophy is central to the Inspired by Ida program. The program offers training to practitioners and clinics in how to apply person-centered methods and tools.
The Inspired by Ida label allows people looking for a qualified hearing care professional to identify practitioners and clinics who are committed to applying person-centered care in practice.
What does the label mean?
The label guarantees that the hearing care professional has completed at least two courses on person-centered care and the use of Ida tools.
In joining the program, hearing care professionals also sign the Inspired by Ida Code of Ethics, in which they state their commitment to applying principles of person-centered care in their daily practices.
