The Signia App is available for iPhone and Android and allows you to control the volume, programs, directionality and sound balance of almost all Signia hearing aids.

For the latest features (Mask Mode & Signia Assistant), you will have to have a Bluetooth connected hearing aid on the most recently released Xperience platform.

Volume, Program, Sound Balance and Directionality Controls

  • Volume – The volume slider allows you to adjust how loud or soft your hearing aids are. This is especially helpful if you are using a Styletto hearing aid without onboard volume controls, as this allows you to raise or lower the volume depending on the environment around you.
  • Programs – The program tab at the top of the screen allows you to switch between your different program settings. These programs may vary depending on what your audiologist has set up (eg. Universal, Noisy Environment, Music etc.).
  • Sound Balance – I haven’t found this particular setting very useful, however you may want to use it to increase or decrease the clarity or boominess of your hearing aids.
  • Directionality – The directionality tab allows you to control the focus of your hearing aids. This can be extremely helpful if you are in a restaurant where you want to reduce background noise and focus on the person directly in front of you (Follow the steps below). From my experience, turning it on significantly reduces background noise, which made listening a bit less fatiguing. Pointing it to the right or left may be helpful when having conversations in a car.
  • Signia claims with their new Xperience line of devices, the gyroscopes can detect when you start walking and automatically switch back to the surround sound to help you regain your environmental awareness.

NEW Mask Mode

The new mask mode available to Xperience platform users aims to increase speech clarity when speaking to others with masks on. This feature increases the volume of muffled sounds whilst helping to reduce the boominess introduced by the mask.

This program is hugely beneficial during the pandemic, as more and more jurisdictions are enforcing mandatory mask laws. Currently, only two other manufacturers offer similar features: Starkey’s Mask Mode, and ReSound’s Face Mask Program.

NEW Signia Assistant

Signia has introduced their new Signia Assistant, an AI chatbot which guides you through numerous troubleshooting steps. The most interesting feature I found was its ability to tweak your “own voice”, a common complaint for patients.

The assistant guides you through the process, tweaking settings to help minimize the sound of your own voice and allows you to keep, revert, try another solution or continue tweaking.

The Signia Assistant also allows you to adjust issues with the voices of others and sound quality but I found their handling tab most helpful. The handling tab shows you instructional videos and tutorials on how to use and maintain your hearing aids. So if you have troubles with your hearing aids and don’t want to visit the audiologist, this can definitely help.

  1. is there a way to keep the bluetooth function of my Signia hearing aids on off, so that it only connects to the bluetooth on my phone when I manually connect it? I don’t want it to connect automatically
