CaptionCall is a revolutionary telephone that is available to individuals who have hearing loss that necessitates the use of captions to use the phone. CaptionCall makes it easy to communicate confidently with friends, family and colleagues by phone. CaptionCall captioning agents use voice recognition technology to quickly provide written captions of what callers say on a large, easy-to-read screen. This is also available with LAN lines, but since many people have gone to using the cell phone for all uses and have disconnected their LAN line, CaptionCall has a solution to create a connection via the internet and cell phone for captions. A CaptionCall feature that may not be easily recognizable as innovative is the length of the handset. When our Product Manager did customer visits, he noticed that customers were holding the handset toward the rear of their ear by the hearing aid instead of right over the ear canal. Consequently, the microphone was positioned next to the customer’s cheek instead of by their mouth. CaptionCall designed a phone with a longer handset so that customers could hold the handset up to their hearing aids but still keep the microphone near their mouth, making communication easier. Additionally, customers can adjust the phone frequency to best accommodate their hearing needs. Customers can select Low or High Emphasis, enter custom frequencies, or CaptionCall can customize phone frequencies using an audiogram submitted by the customer’s hearing healthcare provider. The CaptionCall phone is the only captioned telephone that meets the strict amplification standards for people with hearing loss established by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA-4953). We also meet TIA standard for hearing aid compatibility and reduced interference (TIA-1083), offering an unmatched audio experience.
Additionally, the phone includes patented SilkScroll® technology, which smoothly captions and displays what callers say on a large, easy-to-read screen. Users have the option to use the built-in answering machine or one they already have. They can also save conversations, which is very helpful to look back at appointment times, directions, and favorite calls. The product also helps users find numbers easily with an intuitive touch screen. Customers can take advantage of our easy speaker phone button feature, which allows handsfree use so the listener can hear with both ears, as well as have hands free to take notes.
