RESTON, VAThe American Academy of Audiology (AAA) will be moving into new and larger offices this fall. After a decade in its present location at 11730 Plaza America Drive in Reston, VA, the organization will open its new headquarters about two miles away at 11480 Commerce Park Drive, Suite 220, also in Reston.

This will be the sixth home for AAA since its founding in January 1988. After four years in Houston, the city where its founding members gathered in response to an invitation from James Jerger, PhD, it moved to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC in 1992.

Since then, it has moved three more times, all within the Washington area. In 1993, it relocated to Arlington, VA, where it was managed by an outside company, Association Management Group. In 1999, the academy resumed self-management in its new home in McLean, VA, and then moved to its  current address in 2002.

AAA’s many moves have been accompanied by constant growth. It began with 31 original members and a paid staff of half a position. Currently, it has more than 11,000 members and a professional staff of 32.

AAA will soon move its national headquarters to this building at 11480 Commerce Park Drive in Reston, VA.
