LAS VEGAS—Three hearing care products were honored by the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is being held in Las Vegas this week.

The miniTek® wireless remote streamer for hearing instruments from Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc., received both the Best of CES and the Fan Favorite Awards in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). Among the 10 finalists, miniTek was recognized in the Next category for its industry leading innovation, impact upon consumers and leadership among Bluetooth® wireless technologies.

The Bluetooth SIG Fan Favorite Award was conducted via social media, where consumers voted for their favorite Bluetooth Best of CES finalist and entered to win a prize package of Bluetooth wireless technology devices.

For Innovation in the Health and Wellness category, CES cited products from Able Planet, Inc., and Starkey Hearing Technologies.

The award to Able Planet was for its Personal Sound Amp, described as the first near-ear canal personal sound amplification product with four pre-set environment management filters that provide situational hearing solutions to enhance comprehension for tonal sensitivities and difficult listening environments.

Starkey’s winning entry was the AMP Hearing Aid, a device for people who are not ready for traditional hearing aids. AMP is a non-custom hearing aid inserted deep into the ear canal. It is invisible in most ears, affordable, and has great sound, according to the manufacturer.
