Bill Austin Named As the First Goodwill Global Ambassador for Ear and Hearing Health

NEW YORK — Starkey Hearing Technologies CEO Bill Austin, was named as the Goodwill Global Ambassador for Ear and Hearing Health by the International Federation for Peace & Sustainable Development (IFPSD) last week during an event at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.

The IFPSD is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports the UN’s commitment to international peace, security and justice through educational programs, public relations and community outreach initiatives.

Mr. Austin, founder of the Starkey Hearing Foundation, is the first person to be honored with the title.

As Global Ambassador for Ear and Hearing Health, I will continue to advocate for the countless number of children and adults who suffer from hearing loss. Sally Kader presented the award to Mr. Austin after President Bill Clinton spoke on the global success of Starkey Hearing Foundation’s sustainable hearing healthcare programs across the globe

 

“For the past 16 years, we have worked diligently in many countries around the world, especially war-torn countries,” said IFPSD Founder and President, Sally Kader, who presented the award to Mr. Austin. “I was honored witnessing first-hand the miracle of children hearing for first time. The look on their faces when they first heard sound brought tears to my eyes. I am so proud of Mr. Austin’s accomplishments and our continued partnership with Starkey Hearing Foundation.”

For the past 33 years, Mr. Austin’s work with the Starkey Hearing Foundation has helped serve hundreds of thousands of people through sustainable hearing health programs in low- and middle-income countries around the world.
