OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Clearwater Clinical announced today that it has released version 5.0 of its flagship product, SHOEBOX Audiometry. According to the announcement, Version 5.0 adds a new feature known as Response and Response and Environment Adaptive Control Technology (REACT).

The new REACT feature is said to continuously monitor patient response behavior, in addition to environmental conditions like ambient noise levels. If it detects anomalies that could impact test accuracy, the system will automatically attempt to resolve issues and alert the test administrators.

Improving Test Accuracy, Accessibility and Ease of Use

With Version 5.0, the company has also introduced something called Assisted mode. The Assisted mode is between a fully Automated and Manual testing mode, and was designed for patients that may have difficulty following the automated self-test. In the new Assisted mode, the test is still automated, but the administrator helps guide the patient through the test and marks responses.

Additional updates in Version 5.0 include:

  • Speech Reception/Detection Threshold (SRT/SDT) tests
  • Updated game graphics with interactive user prompts
  • Improved audiogram displays

“This is another major milestone for SHOEBOX. The beauty of a software-based audiometer is that it continues to get better over time. Version 5.0 is a free upgrade to all our subscription customers. We are committed to continuous innovation and modernizing audiometry, so everyone has access to better hearing healthcare.”
