WASHINGTON, DC — The Hearing Industries Association (HIA) leadership has issued a statement regarding hearing healthcare in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The full text of the statement can be read below:
The hearing healthcare industry, like many businesses in the United States and around the world, is facing an unprecedented challenge. As always, our priority is the safety of the patients we serve, the hearing healthcare professionals, and our employees and families.
During this time, our members are fully committed to serving our patients and professionals to the best of their abilities. At a time when communication needs are paramount, people with significant hearing loss must be able to effectively connect at work and at home with their families and loved ones. Providing help to those in need is an essential service. In some instances, a phone call, video or telehealth service may be a viable option to address a patient’s needs. However, if an in-person visit is required, we urge all to follow the guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Our members also fully support the recommendations and efforts of local, state and federal governments to help flatten the curve and curtail the spread of the coronavirus. We urge full compliance by all.
We cannot predict the future. By working together we can persevere and ensure the eventual return to our businesses and daily lives.
Stay safe. Stay healthy.
