This Week We Give Thanks (Though We Should Do It More Often)

Every year I like to take this week to look back on what I am thankful for since the US holiday of Thanksgiving encourages us to do this.   I am thankful for my office staff who work hard and keep a pleasant attitude.  I am thankful that my business has grown even in this challenging economy.  I have a great extended family full of beautifully dysfunctional and lovable people.  My husband and sons are the light of my life, even though they do not understand there are certain sounds that will never be acceptable at the dinner table!

I work continually to show my appreciation to those in my life.  I am not much into New Year’s Resolutions, but I take this on every year and hopefully get better at it.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of them all.  Not just for the food, but the reminder that there is a lot to be thankful for.

When a patient says “I hate to complain but…” I say back “this gives us a perfect opportunity to make things right”.   I am thankful for the chance to right a wrong whether it is perception, something physically wrong or just a quick fix.  I take the stance that everything in life gives us a chance to mold ourselves into stronger, kinder people.  We cannot always choose what happens to us, but we can choose our reaction to it.

So I hope that no matter what your circumstances, you find many things that you are thankful for and let others know.  This is a link to what some children are thankful for, which will bring a smile to your face when you read it.  Thank you for reading this blog and have a warm Thanksgiving!
