The device in Figure 1 looks like a BTE with a p-trap attached to a flanged, pre-molded insertable earplug. It could happen, but not as it happens to improve or protect hearing.

The device in Figure 1 is one of several systems proposed in Nocira LLC’s patent 11090194 to mitigate Migraine headache.
The idea is to create a barrier between an external ear canal pressure and an ambient pressure with a compliant earpiece [then].generate one or more stimuli which can alleviate one or more symptoms associated with a disorder, such as craniofacial pain syndromes or headache syndromes, or treat one or more disorders.

Holly Hosford-Dunn, PhD, owned and operated a dispensing audiology practice in Tucson and was active in management of HearingHealthMatters.org through 2017. She has authored/edited numerous text books, chapters, journals, and articles and taught Marketing and Practice Management in a variety of academic settings. She continues to consult and write on topics related to hearing health care vis-à-vis consumer demands, professional training, technological advancement, capital investment, industry consolidation, regulatory control, product and service distribution, and strategic pricing.
