NORMAL, IL–The Educational Audiology Association (EAA) and the Marion Downs Hearing Center in Boulder, CO, have teamed up in a relief effort focused on schools for the deaf and for mainstream deaf and hard-of hearing students in areas of Japan recently  devastated by  earthquake and tsunami.

A secure site for monetary donations has been established at Marion Downs Hearing Center Foundation Japan Support Donation. Donors can go to www306.safesecureweb.com/mdhcfoundation/cwcfstore/FoundationResults.cfm?category=6 to make a contribution. Funds will be channeled to help with the educational, hearing, and amplification needs of children in Japan.

Michael Sharp, AuD, of Illinois State University, is also collecting donations of school supplies for Japan. These can include hearing aid-related items (batteries, testers, cleaners, etc.) or everyday school materials (pencils, crayons, markers, etc.). They can be sent to: Dr. Mike Sharp, Illinois State University, Campus Box 4720, Fairchild Hall, Normal, IL 61790. For more information, go to [email protected].
