WASHINGTON, DC—The announcement of the first Unison Hearing Health Global Summit was the biggest story to emerge from the 2015 annual meeting of the Hearing Industries Association (HIA) on March 6, but not the only news.
The national trade association of manufacturers of hearing aids and related products elected Scott Davis as chairman of the Board. Davis, who is on the executive board of Sivantos, the company formerly known as Siemens Audiology Solutions, succeeded Todd Murray, president of GN Hearing Care Corp. North America.
HIA also elected Peer Lauritsen, president of Oticon, Inc., as vice-chairman, and re-elected Robert Tong, vice-president of the medical division of ON Semiconductor, as secretary/treasurer. Davis, Murray, Lauritsen, and Tong will serve on the board’s executive committee, along with Carole M. Rogin, president of HIA.
HIA also re-elected Gordon Walker, Knowles Electronics; Jeff Newnham, Phonak; Jeff Taylor, Sonion; and Jeff Geigel, Widex; to its board, where they will join Kevin Kouba, Spectrum Brands, and Jerry Ruzicka, Starkey Hearing Technologies.
Thanks to all the volunteers (Gordon Walker, Knowles Electronics; Jeff Newnham, Phonak; Jeff Taylor, Sonion; and Jeff Geigel, Widex) to help promote the industry as Friendly Competitors.
