BETHESDA, MARYLAND  The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) Board of Trustees announced, in a January 13th press release, the departure of HLAA Executive Director, Anna Gilmore Hall.{{1}}[[1]] The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) was founded in 1979 and seeks to open the world of communication to people with hearing loss through information, education, support and advocacy. HLAA produces the Walk4Hearing® in 22 cities across the country, publishes the bimonthly Hearing Loss Magazine, holds annual conventions, advocates for the rights of people with hearing loss, conducts educational webinars, and has an extensive network of chapters and state organizations across the country.[[1]]

Mrs. Gilmore Hall, who began her career as a registered nurse, and has worked in association management for more than two decades, will be relocating to Florida and unable to continue in her current role. She noted that she has enjoyed her tenure as Executive Director for HLAA, which is a “great organization”.

 

After two and a half years of leading the organization, “Anna has effected many positive changes and leaves HLAA poised for future growth,” said Board Chairperson, Margaret Wallhagen, Ph.D.

 

According to HLAA, while a search is being conducted for a replacement, Deputy Executive Director Barbara Kelley will become acting Executive Director effective immediately. Barbara Kelley has been with the organization for 28 years and has served as deputy executive director for the past eight.
