The Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota announced the appointment of Michael Scholl to its board of directors today.
He serves as Chief Compliance Officer and Executive Vice President of Corporate Relations at Starkey.
Scholl joins 18 other volunteer board members committed to the nonprofit’s work in providing no-cost care and support resources for families impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementia, advocating for policies at a state and federal level, and advancing research around the globe. Association board members ensure there is proper funding to support programs and services, raise awareness and promote events, advance DEI and research and support staff in achieving the strategic plan. The Minnesota-North Dakota chapter includes nine locations and 44 employees.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michael to our board to ensure that support, crisis assistance and education is available to Minnesota and North Dakota families. He brings more than 15 years of leadership in both the private and public sector, including expertise in providing strategic advice in coalition building, regulatory compliance, lobbying, government relations, message development and paid media.”
In Scholl’s current position at Starkey, he works closely with teams across the organization to identify, mitigate, and remediate risk – all while promoting a culture of compliance. He is also active on the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce board and earned his B.A. in political science from Denison University.
In taking on this new role Michael said, “Through my work at Starkey, I have been able to highlight the connection between hearing loss and cognitive decline, including dementia and Alzheimer’s. I look forward to using this new position as an opportunity to be a voice for the millions of people with hearing loss who are at an increased risk of Alzheimer’s and other cognitive issues.”
