American Cochlear Implant Alliance Membership Elects New Members to Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Cochlear Implant Alliance (ACIA) recently held its membership election to select new board members during the CI2023 Dallas: Cochlear Implants in Children and Adults conference in Dallas, Texas. The election resulted in the appointment of four distinguished individuals to the board.

The newly elected board members are:

  • Maura Cosetti, MD, Director of the Ear Institute at NY Eye & Ear of Mt Sinai and Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology
  • Lindsay Zombek, MS, LSLS Cert AVT, Speech Language Pathologist at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center
  • Matthew L. Bush, M.D., Ph.D., MBA, the UK College of Medicine Endowed Chair in Rural Health Policy and Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center
  • Kristin Lewis, AuD, Audiologist and Director of Clinical Services at Saint Luke’s Hospital Midwest Ear Institute.

Furthermore, Andrea Warner-Czyz, PhD, an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas Callier Center for Communication Disorders and current board member, was elected as the Chair of the Board of Directors. Dr. David Kelsall will serve as the Vice Chair, Dr. Melissa Hall as the Secretary, and Dr. Kevin Brown as the Treasurer.

The ACI Alliance expressed its gratitude to outgoing board members Dr. Oliver Adunka and Dr. James Dornhoffer for their dedicated six years of service. Dr. Adunka served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the past two years.

The diverse composition of the ACI Alliance Board of Directors reflects the organization’s mission, encompassing professionals such as surgeons, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, educators of children with hearing loss, and representatives from cochlear implant teams and school settings. Additionally, the board includes parents and adult cochlear implant recipients.

ACI Alliance is a non-profit membership organization with a mission to eliminate barriers to cochlear implantation. It achieves this by sponsoring research, raising awareness, and advocating for improved access to cochlear implants for patients of all ages across the United States.

The new additions to the ACI Alliance Board of Directors are expected to bring fresh perspectives and expertise, further enhancing the organization’s ability to fulfill its important mission.
