Walmart Health, the retail giant’s healthcare arm, is set to expand its services by opening 28 new centers in 2024. According to the company, the expansion will include the addition of audiology and hearing services to the centers’ suite of services, which already includes primary care, dental care, behavioral health, labs and X-ray, and telehealth services.

The expansion will deepen Walmart Health’s presence in Texas and expand its footprint into two new states, Missouri and Arizona. By the end of 2024, Walmart Health will have more than 75 centers across the United States.

The first of the new Walmart Health centers will open in the first quarter of 2024. The specific growth locations include:

  • 10 locations in Dallas metro area
  • 8 locations in Houston metro area
  • 6 locations in Phoenix metro area
  • 4 locations in Kansas City, MO, metro area

Walmart Health centers have been providing affordable healthcare to communities since 2019, with a commitment to addressing a patient’s whole health needs through qualified doctors, dentists, behavioral health specialists, and community health workers.

According to a Walmart Health executive, the expansion is aimed at addressing the cost and convenience of healthcare, which remains a barrier for many Americans. Walmart Health is uniquely positioned to provide quality, affordable health and wellness services to people where they live and shop, with 90% of the U.S. population located within 10 miles of a Walmart.

“With this growth in 2024, we will nearly double our current footprint, offering accessible, convenient and affordable care in two new states and expanding our presence in Texas to help the communities we serve live better, healthier lives.”
–Dr. David Carmouche, SVP, Omnichannel Care

The centers’ team-based approach to care “that values all clinicians and enables them to practice at the very top of their license” has been well-received by both patients and providers.

The new centers will feature modern equipment and technology to enable providers and patients alike to experience best-in-class healthcare technology. The physical footprint and layout of the center will also be changed to reduce waiting time for patients and allow them to spend more time with their doctor, said the company.

Walmart Health’s commitment to serving communities by providing accessible, convenient, and affordable healthcare through building relationships within their communities is expected to continue with the expansion.
