COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Demant has signed an agreement to acquire KIND Group, one of the world’s leading hearing aid retailers, in a deal valued at EUR 700 million (~$803M USD). The acquisition, which is the largest in Demant’s history, will significantly expand the company’s global hearing care business to more than 4,500 clinics worldwide.
KIND operates around 650 clinics and employs approximately 3,000 people. Headquartered in Großburgwedel near Hanover, the company is best known for its leadership in the German hearing care market, with additional operations in Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, and Singapore.
Strategic Fit and Shared Values
Founded in 1952, KIND has maintained a strong reputation for high-quality service, personalized care, and professional standards—values that align closely with Demant’s own history and mission. Both companies were founded as family-owned enterprises and share a commitment to improving the lives of people with hearing loss.
“It’s with pride and excitement that today we announce this historic agreement for Demant and KIND. Our shared values of trust, care and innovation match perfectly, and the combination of KIND’s strong brand and proven track record with Demant’s state-of-the-art technology, global scale and experience in providing hearing care is a unique strategic fit,” said Søren Nielsen, President & CEO of Demant. “The further expansion of our global network of hearing care clinics is explicitly related to our ambition to improve as many lives as possible.”

Dr. Alexander Kind, owner and CEO of KIND for over 25 years, emphasized the importance of legacy and continuity in the decision to sell:
“As a family business, our foremost responsibility has always been to ensure the long-term success and stability of the company. By joining forces with Demant, we have found the ideal partner to carry our legacy forward. Combining both businesses will secure a leading position in the German hearing care market.”
Impact on Market Position and Financial Outlook
The acquisition positions Demant as a leading provider in Germany—one of the world’s largest hearing aid markets, with an estimated 1.7 million units sold annually. Once finalized, Demant will operate more than 900 clinics across Germany.
“With KIND becoming part of the Demant Group, we’re able to further improve our position and leverage one of the leading brands in the industry. We believe that a trusted relationship between the hearing aid user and a professional hearing care expert is paramount.”
–Niels Wagner, President of Hearing Care at Demant
KIND is expected to contribute EUR 300 million (DKK 2.2 billion) in revenue in 2026, with organic growth expected to align with the global market rate of 4–6% per year. The acquisition is anticipated to positively impact EBIT margins, with full synergy realization projected by the end of 2027.
The purchase will be financed fully through debt and will temporarily increase Demant’s gearing multiple to approximately 3.5. The company expects to return to its target range of 2.0–2.5 within 18–24 months. Demant’s share buy-back program is suspended effective immediately, though the 2025 financial outlook remains unchanged pending transaction closure. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to finalize in the second half of 2025.
