SOMERSET, NEW JERSEY – Oticon Medical is marking the fifth annual Good Vibrations Day, a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness of bone anchored hearing.

The month-long campaign includes social media outreach and in-office celebrations around the world, culminating on May 3, a date chosen to honor the birthday of Per-Ingvar Brånemark, the Swedish physician widely recognized as the father of osseointegration and a pioneer in bone conduction hearing solutions.

Campaign Highlights Inclusive Education and Global Participation

Good Vibrations Day is a non-branded awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about bone conduction as a treatment option for individuals with conductive, mixed, or single-sided hearing losses. All bone conduction device manufacturers, audiology professionals, and hearing device users are encouraged to participate by sharing content, stories, and resources across social platforms.

Bone anchored hearing systems work by transmitting sound through bone directly to the inner ear, bypassing the ear canal and middle ear. These systems offer an effective hearing solution for many individuals who may not benefit from traditional air conduction hearing aids.

Social Media Challenge to Support Access

In the U.S., Oticon Medical has launched a Charitable Challenge on Facebook, inviting followers to respond to the prompt: “Why Sound Matters to Me?”

For every 50 responses received, the company will donate a Ponto™ bone anchored hearing processor to a person in need who lacks insurance or other means to afford the device. For every 100 responses, two processors will be donated.

A Unified Effort for Awareness

Throughout April, Oticon Medical is inviting wearers, caregivers, clinicians, and manufacturers to join in celebrating Good Vibrations Day. Activities include social media campaigns, shared experiences from wearers, and multimedia content that can be posted using the hashtags #GoodVibrations and #BoneAnchoredHearing.

“As we launch the Good Vibrations Day campaign. Our dedication to the importance of sound remains unwavering. This initiative serves as a significant opportunity to raise awareness about the remarkable benefits of bone conduction. Given that many people around the world are still unaware of bone anchored hearing systems as a viable solution for their hearing loss, it is imperative that we work to change this. Oticon Medical remains committed to advancing our collaborative efforts with other manufacturers, hearing care professionals, and current wearers to ensure that the transformative capability of bone conduction reaches all those in need.”

–René Govaerts, General Manager at Oticon Medical

*Recipient(s) of the Charitable Challenge giveaway will be selected internally from an existing list of U.S.-based patients without access to insurance or financial resources for a new device.
