MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – Amplifon, the parent company of U.S. brands Miracle-Ear and Amplifon Hearing Health Care (AHHC), is organizing initiatives worldwide in celebration of World Hearing Day on March 3. The theme for this year, set by the World Health Organization (WHO), focuses on changing mindsets regarding hearing care: recognizing the importance of hearing health, protecting oneself from noise exposure, getting regular checkups, and, when necessary, using hearing aids.

This aligns with Amplifon’s approach for its World Hearing Day initiatives in various countries, emphasizing that proper hearing care requires a thorough diagnosis and ongoing partnership with a professional.

According to WHO, hearing loss affects more than 1.5 billion people globally, and this number could rise to 2.5 billion by 2050. It is also estimated that more than 1 billion young people under the age of 35 are at risk of early hearing loss due to excessive noise exposure.

Initiatives to Raise Awareness of Hearing Health

In the U.S., Miracle-Ear is launching its first-ever “Test The Nation” campaign, a collective challenge aimed at helping as many Americans as possible by offering free hearing tests nationwide from March 10-23. In addition, the Miracle-Ear Foundation® will observe World Hearing Day through its “One Day Without Sound” campaign.

This annual noise-induced hearing loss awareness initiative encourages participants to simulate hearing loss by wearing earplugs during daily activities, such as watching TV, enjoying a meal with family, or calling a friend, to raise awareness of the impact of hearing loss on everyday life.

Globally, the company is organizing a day of hearing tests using its proprietary iPad-based technology (OtoKiosk) at Luiss University. Amplifon is also supporting the Italian edition of the Hearing Marathon organized by WHO in Rome. Free tests will be offered to citizens at the headquarters of the 15th Department of the City of Paris, as well as to employees in the Melbourne Central Business District, which houses the offices of Amplifon Australia. In addition to Italy, hearing screenings are being offered at Amplifon’s global headquarters in Milan, as well as in Germany and France for employees in Hamburg and Paris.

Furthermore, Amplifon has launched radio, TV, digital, and social media campaigns dedicated to Hearing Month in Italy, Spain, and Colombia.
