Honorees will be celebrated at The Final Riff: An Indy Jazz Soiree, taking place September 20 during the 2025 IHS Conference & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana.

2025 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Alan Lowell, ACA, BC-HIS

The 2025 IHS Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Alan Lowell, ACA, BC-HIS, who became a licensed Hearing Aid Specialist in 1975. Over five decades, he has served as a leader, author, and mentor, including two terms as IHS President—the first in the organization’s history—as well as leadership roles with the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS), the Florida Hearing Aid Specialist Licensing Board, and the Florida Hearing Society.

The James P. Lovell Advocacy Award will be presented to Jason Winn, PA, of Tallahassee, Florida, recognizing his extraordinary achievements in advocating for people with hearing loss.

The IHS Emerging Professional Award will go to Maggie Smith, BC-HIS, of Bloomington, Indiana. This honor is awarded to members licensed fewer than five years who have demonstrated leadership, volunteerism, and professional growth, expanding the role of hearing aid dispensing.

The IHS Outstanding Professional Member Award will be presented to Chris Arnold of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, recognizing his significant contributions to advancing IHS’ values, professional identity, qualifications, and public education on hearing healthcare.

“I congratulate all our 2025 IHS award winners and nominees. Their devotion to the Hearing Aid Specialist profession and compassion in helping more individuals hear and better communicate is an inspiration to the communities they serve and professionals alike. I hope IHS members will join us in celebrating these exemplary professionals at the IHS 2025 Conference & Expo in Indianapolis.”
