SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA — Plural Publishing has announced the release of Motivational Interviewing for Hearing Care Providers, a new resource designed to help audiologists and hearing care professionals apply evidence-based communication strategies to strengthen patient engagement and support treatment adherence.
Many individuals with hearing loss wait years before seeking help and often delay using hearing aids even after prescription. According to the World Health Organization, ignoring prescribed treatments contributes significantly to poor health outcomes — and hearing care is no exception. This new publication helps professionals apply MI strategies to encourage patients to commit to treatment and improve their quality of life.
The book presents evidence of MI’s success across healthcare fields and adapts those methods for audiology and hearing care. Author Bobbi-Jo Marlatt breaks down MI into actionable components and offers real-world examples, transcripts, and reflection exercises tailored to hearing professionals.
