MONTPELIER, VERMONT – Nano Hearing Aids has announced the resolution of a 2022 lawsuit filed by the State of Vermont related to allegations of consumer protection violations. The claims were tied to the company’s prior ownership under Charles Crawford and primarily concerned practices before the company was acquired by its current owners.

The resolution marks a significant milestone for Nano Hearing Aids, allowing the company to move forward from regulatory challenges associated with its previous ownership and focus on its mission of providing high-quality, affordable hearing solutions.

“This settlement represents a turning point for Nano Hearing Aids as we enter a golden age of success. With our regulatory matters behind us, we are more committed than ever to setting the industry benchmark for best practices, innovation, and customer care.”

–Ryan Zackon, Chief Executive Officer of Nano Hearing Aids

According to the Vermont Attorney General’s announcement, the settlement follows more than two years of cooperation and proactive steps taken by Nano’s new owners and executive leadership.

Following the company’s acquisition in March 2021 and the subsequent removal of Crawford as CEO, Nano’s new management implemented changes to strengthen its product offerings and refine customer service policies. By the end of 2022, the company had positioned itself as a competitor in the over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid market.

Nano asserts that it was unaware of the Vermont investigation at the time of its acquisition, as the matter had allegedly been concealed by Crawford and the company’s former legal counsel, Clark Hill PLC. The company has since initiated legal action against Clark Hill, citing claims of legal malpractice, negligence, and other allegations.

Upon learning of the Vermont lawsuit, Nano’s management engaged with the Vermont Attorney General’s office to address the concerns raised. According to the company, many of these concerns had already been resolved prior to the lawsuit’s filing and could have been addressed earlier had the investigation been disclosed.

Nano maintains that its business practices since March 2021 align with consumer protection laws and represent a high standard within the OTC hearing aid market. As part of the settlement, the company has agreed to a suspended civil penalty, which it states underscores its commitment to transparency, compliance, and consumer trust.

With the matter now resolved, Nano Hearing Aids “reaffirms its dedication to maintaining high industry standards” and working alongside regulators to ensure consumer protections. The company continues to focus on expanding its product offerings and strengthening its position in the OTC hearing aid industry.
