FARMINGTON HILLS, MICHIGAN — The International Hearing Society (IHS) is marking its 75th anniversary in 2026, recognizing its longstanding role in supporting hearing healthcare professionals who provide hearing evaluations and hearing aid services.
The anniversary will be celebrated under the theme “Uniting Generations, Advancing Hearing Care,” with a focus on advocacy, relationships, communication, and education. According to the organization, these areas have helped shape both the profession and the Society’s role in serving individuals with hearing loss.
IHS is inviting members and others to participate in the celebration by sharing stories, photos, and historical materials reflecting the organization’s 75-year history.
“For seven-and-a-half decades, our Society has stood as a constant source of guidance and a model of standards in a healthcare sector that continues to evolve rapidly. As we honor our 75-year legacy, we look ahead with optimism. We are committed to developing our Society to reflect the needs of today’s hearing healthcare professionals, who are more connected, more innovative, and more equipped for the ever-changing future.”
–Michael Andreozzi, BS, BC-HIS, President of IHS
Growing Demand for Hearing Healthcare Professionals
As IHS continues to support hearing healthcare professionals, demand for services in the field is increasing. According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Hearing Aid Specialist ranks among the fastest-growing healthcare occupations based on projected growth from 2024 to 2034.
The organization notes that the profession offers an accessible career pathway, often relying on an apprenticeship model that allows individuals to enter the field regardless of prior educational background.
Anniversary Events Planned Throughout 2026
IHS anniversary activities will take place throughout the year, culminating in a featured celebration at the IHS 2026 Conference & Expo in Washington, D.C., scheduled for August 12–15.
The event will bring together hearing healthcare professionals from around the world for networking, educational sessions, and continuing education opportunities. The conference will also include a trainee masterclass designed to support individuals preparing for licensure.
