In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Samsung has unveiled an updated feature called Ambient Sound for its Galaxy Buds2 Pro earbuds, aimed at providing better auditory experiences for individuals with hearing loss. This enhancement offers users the ability to listen to their favorite music while remaining aware of their surroundings, or alternatively, to block out external noise when desired.
The latest version of the Ambient Sound feature includes two additional levels of customization, bringing the total to five amplification levels.1 This expansion enables even more users to benefit from improved hearing experiences.
Improving Hearing Accessibility and Customization
The effectiveness of this feature was evaluated through a clinical trial conducted by the University of Iowa’s Hearing Aid and Aging Research Laboratory.2 The research demonstrated that the Galaxy Buds2 Pro significantly enhanced speech perception in individuals with mild-to-moderate hearing loss. A similar trial carried out by Samsung Medical Center revealed that the earbuds could effectively assist individuals with mild-to-moderate hearing loss in communicating better in quiet environments.
The updated feature offers users increased customization options for their audio settings. Galaxy Buds2 Pro users can fine-tune their Ambient Sound preferences by adjusting volume levels individually for the left and right earbuds. They can also choose from five different stages of tone range, ranging from soft to clear. Moreover, the Adapt Ambient Sound feature allows the earbuds to adapt to the user’s unique hearing needs, providing enhanced clarity for perceiving the sounds of their surroundings.
