LYNGE, DENMARK – Signia has announced the introduction of the Signia Active Pro IX, an advanced version of its consumer earbuds that also serve as prescription-grade hearing aids. Built on the Integrated Xperience (IX) platform, this latest offering is designed to enhance conversational abilities for a wider range of users.
“Signia Active Pro IX offers our HCP partners a modern, low-profile solution for people who need to boost their hearing but might not otherwise accept hearing aids right now. In addition to a contemporary earbud design, Signia Active Pro IX delivers the full power of Integrated Xperience technology, empowering wearers to reconnect with conversations and engage fully regardless of their environment.”
—Jens Møller, Global Head of Signia Brand
Integrated Xperience is a hearing aid platform featuring RealTime Conversation Enhancement technology, which uses split processing to independently enhance speech from multiple conversation partners while reducing background noise to maintain an immersive yet non-distracting environment. This technology employs a multi-stream architecture that can track and process up to four conversation partners simultaneously, adapting to the dynamic nature of group conversations.
Research on group conversations has shown that the Integrated Xperience platform can significantly improve speech understanding. In one study, 95% of participants reported clearer hearing with Integrated Xperience compared to without it.1 Another study demonstrated a +12dB improvement in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in a simulated noisy group conversation.2
Additionally, a peer-reviewed study found that 80% of participants preferred using RealTime Conversation Enhancement in real-world noisy group settings.3
Signia Active Pro IX: Expanding the Hearing Aid Market with Consumer-Style Earbuds
By offering hearing aids in a consumer-style earbud form, Signia Active Pro IX aims to broaden the appeal of hearing aids to a larger segment of people with hearing loss who might otherwise avoid using them. This includes individuals who recognize their need for hearing assistance but are reluctant to use traditional hearing aids, as well as those who want optimal performance while exercising, working, socializing, and staying engaged in their daily activities.
“People with hearing loss often struggle to participate in group conversations, leading many to withdraw from social situations and potentially impact their overall well-being,” Møller explained. “Despite this, many of those who miss out on conversations are hesitant to wear hearing aids due to stigma. However, they are more likely to wear earbuds as part of their everyday, digital lives, making Signia Active Pro IX a contemporary solution that fits seamlessly into their lifestyle.”
Signia Active Pro IX is available in various color options and includes a rechargeable battery that provides all-day power, with a convenient charging case for on-the-go recharging. Like consumer earbuds, these devices support Bluetooth connectivity for streaming audio and hands-free smartphone communication. Additionally, with CallControl functionality, users can tap their Signia Active Pro IX earbuds to accept or decline calls.
“By challenging the status quo of traditional hearing aids, Signia is expanding access to hearing technology with a design that appeals to even the staunchest hearing aid rejector. With Signia Active Pro IX, we’re providing our HCP partners with an unprecedented solution to help people reconnect with conversations around them on their own terms”
—Jens Møller, Global Head of Signia Brand
The devices are also IP68-rated, offering resistance to dust, water, and sweat, which is crucial for active users.
Active IX and Signia Essential Hearing Aid Line
Signia is also introducing its Active IX earbuds, which share the same modern earbud design as the Active Pro IX but are offered at a more affordable price point to appeal to those hesitant about traditional hearing aids. Active IX features Signia’s Augmented Focus technology, automatic directionality, and streaming audio connectivity, among other advanced features.
Additionally, Signia is launching its Signia IX Essentials line of hearing aids in the U.S. market. The IX Essentials series expands the Integrated Xperience portfolio with extended performance levels 2IX and 1IX across select Signia Pure Charge&Go IX, Styletto IX, Silk Charge&Go IX, and Insio IX hearing aids. With Integrated Xperience technology now available at all performance levels, more individuals can benefit from this platform and enjoy enhanced conversational abilities.
“With a broad and deep product portfolio, supporting all levels of hearing loss with multiple price points and wearer-centric designs, we’re helping HCPs drive acceptance and destigmatize hearing aids. Today’s announcements address a broad market of possible wearers, making it easier for HCPs to get the right device to the right wearers, bringing the benefits of better hearing to all.”
Signia Active Pro IX and Signia Active IX will become available in the US market in December 2024.
