Backyard Creators, a deep-tech startup innovating in the field of auditory technologies, has raised $600,000 USD in a pre-seed funding round led by Indian family offices and SoundInvest, a Denmark-based venture capital firm specializing in sound innovation. The announcement comes on the heels of the company’s graduation from Sound Hub Denmark’s international SoundTech Accelerator Program.

The funding will support research and development of the company’s flagship product—a non-invasive bionic ear designed to assist individuals with severe to profound hearing loss. The device employs a novel approach: magnetic field-induced stimulation to evoke hearing sensations from outside the skull, potentially offering a new frontier in auditory rehabilitation.

Pushing Boundaries in Hearing Tech

“This marks SoundInvest’s first investment in India,” the company noted, underscoring both the promise of Backyard Creators’ approach and the growing global interest in scalable hearing innovations.

“We’re just getting started,” the team shared. “Our long-term vision is not just a non-invasive bionic ear – it’s to make hearing better and more accessible for everyone.”

Founded by identical twins Raman and Lakshmanan during their undergraduate studies, Backyard Creators has spent the past three years focusing full-time on developing proprietary dynamic magnetic transducers and studying auditory potentials. Their goal: to unlock safer, more effective alternatives for restoring hearing through external stimulation.

Looking Ahead

With fresh capital and technical validation from an international accelerator, the startup is expanding its team and is actively recruiting engineers and researchers passionate about working at the convergence of dynamic magnetic fields and auditory science.

Backyard Creators describes its work as a mission “to redefine hearing” through breakthrough technologies. As the company moves forward with prototyping and further clinical validation, the industry will be watching closely to see how this non-invasive approach may reshape the landscape for people with profound hearing challenges.

Next Steps and Contact

With R&D accelerating and global interest building, Backyard Creators is welcoming inquiries from potential collaborators, investors, and partners interested in the future of non-invasive hearing technology.
