ITASCA, ILLINOIS — Knowles Corporation (NYSE: KN), a leading manufacturer of specialty electronic components—including high-performance capacitors, radio frequency (RF) filters, advanced medtech microphones, and balanced armature (BA) speakers—has announced the launch of its new MM60 MEMS microphone at the European Hearing Aid Acousticians Convention (EUHA) in Nuremberg, Germany.

Developed to deliver superior electroacoustic performance and durability, the MM60 has been specifically engineered to maximize the performance of AI chipsets in hearing aid applications.

The company describes the innovation as a complete reimagining of hearing health technology, built from the ground up to support next-generation, AI-optimized devices.

Dual Vectors of Innovation

The MM60 is based on two core innovations: an all-new MEMS motor and an advanced ASIC that together aim to help hearing aid manufacturers meet real-world performance demands without compromise.

As a pioneer in MEMS microphone technology for hearing aids, Knowles has long provided high-performance solutions at a lower cost than traditional electret microphones. The MM60 continues this legacy while introducing new benchmarks for reliability and performance tailored to AI-powered hearing solutions.

The new MEMS motor design is more resistant to liquid and particle ingress—including water, dust, and earwax—while delivering enhanced electroacoustic performance. The MM60 can withstand two meters of water immersion and air blasts exceeding 100 PSI, while also providing protection against fine particles. These improvements are expected to reduce device return rates and support more active lifestyles for users.

The advanced ASIC offers expanded programmability with dual-stage gain control, precision filters ranging from 25 Hz to 20 kHz, DC offset alignment, and optimized power consumption. Each unit is factory-configured to hearing aid manufacturer specifications, providing consistency and supporting the integration of advanced AI-driven differentiation features.

Enhanced User Experience

For hearing aid users, the MM60 delivers lower noise levels, reduced distortion, improved ultrasonic performance, and increased durability—enhancing sound quality and device longevity in diverse environments. Both the MM60 and its thinner variant, the MM61, are available immediately for integration into new hearing systems.

“The MM60 represents a pivotal advancement in hearing health technology. By combining our decades of MEMS microphone expertise with cutting-edge AI optimization, we’ve created a solution that doesn’t just meet today’s hearing aid requirements but also enables the next generation of intelligent hearing devices. This microphone sets a new standard for what’s possible when durability, performance, and AI-readiness converge in a single, breakthrough product.”

–Jon Kiachian, President of MedTech and Specialty Audio at Knowles Corporation

Setting a New Industry Standard

Combining durability, programmability, and acoustic precision, the MM60 establishes a new benchmark for AI-optimized hearing aid technology. Its AI-centric design philosophy is intended to deliver industry-leading sound quality while maintaining the reliability and performance standards that manufacturers and users expect.

The MM60 MEMS microphone will be demonstrated at Knowles’ booth #235 during EUHA in Nuremberg. For technical specifications and integration details, visit Knowles Hearing Health Microphones or contact a Knowles representative.
