DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA — MED-EL USA announced continued expansion of its virtual healthcare capabilities through Remote Care, a telehealth platform designed for audiologists, and the companion HearCare App for cochlear implant recipients. The system is intended to support remote communication, data sharing, and ongoing care outside the clinic.
Using Remote Care, audiologists can request and review system checks, adjust audio processor configurations, and share updated settings remotely through MAESTRO 11 software. Updated configurations are delivered directly to recipients via the HearCare App, enabling remote adjustments comparable in precision to an in-clinic fitting.
Synchronous and Asynchronous Telehealth Options
According to MED-EL, Remote Care supports both synchronous and asynchronous care models. Synchronous sessions enable scheduled video appointments with real-time data sharing and patient feedback, while asynchronous use allows clinicians to review data and send updated configurations at a later time.
This flexibility allows recipients to download settings remotely while giving clinicians greater control over scheduling and workflow.

Extending Care Beyond the Clinic
The company said the platform enables audiologists to prioritize in-clinic visits for patients who require in-person care while continuing to support others remotely. Recipients receiving replacement audio processors can restore settings through the HearCare App’s backup feature, and MED-EL noted that compatibility extends to certain legacy implants.
For patients and caregivers, the HearCare App provides tools to run system checks, manage backups, and maintain communication with their audiologist using a compatible smartphone and audio processor.
“Remote Care and the HearCare App make it possible for audiologists to support patients with the same precision and confidence as an in-clinic visit, without the need for travel. This flexibility is especially valuable for patients who live far from a clinic or have limited mobility, while also giving professionals more time to focus on those who truly need in-person care. It’s a win-win for efficiency and patient outcomes.”

*Remote Care and the HearCare App are compatible with PULSARCI100, SONATA, CONCERT, SYNCHRONY, and SYNCHRONY 2 implants used in combination with SONNET 3, SONNET 3 EAS, SONNET 2, SONNET 2 EAS, or RONDO 3 audio processors.
