Pindrop Hearing has secured a growth investment from Imbiba to support the expansion of its premium clinical audiology model across London and the South-East of England.

Imbiba announced the investment as its first pure-play healthcare deal, backing Pindrop Hearing, a private clinical audiology business founded by UK audiologist Dr Rony Ganguly.

A premium clinical audiology platform

Since opening its flagship Harley Street clinic in 2017, Pindrop Hearing has positioned itself as a provider of evidence-based audiology care with a focus on patient experience.

Dr Ganguly, founder and CEO of the business, has more than 20 years of experience in audiology. Prior to founding Pindrop, he worked at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital and lectured at the UCL Ear Institute. Since 2006, he has also developed referral relationships with GPs, ENT consultants, and private medical networks across London.

Pindrop currently operates three locations in Harley Street, King’s Road in Chelsea, and Winchmore Hill. The company provides advanced diagnostics, vestibular services, and hearing aid provision across major manufacturers.

What the investment will support

According to the announcement, the new funding will support the company’s expansion into carefully selected affluent catchment areas in London and the South-East of England.

The partnership is expected to enable:

  • Expansion into new premium high street locations
  • Continued investment in advanced diagnostics and vestibular services
  • Further strengthening of the clinical team and recruitment of leading audiologists
  • The build-out of finance and operational infrastructure to support multi-site growth

Board additions and leadership support

As part of the transaction, Jonathan Gardner, former Managing Director of Boots Hearingcare, will join Pindrop Hearing as Chairman and Non-Executive Director.

Gardner previously oversaw the expansion of Boots Hearingcare from 100 to 500 rooms during periods of ownership by KKR and Walgreens. He has since held CEO roles in several private equity-backed healthcare businesses.

Imbiba’s Heidi Duckworth and Andrew Guest will also join the board, alongside Royston Guest, who has advised Pindrop on growth strategy for several years. The company also plans to appoint a new finance director, formerly of Third Space, to lead its finance function as the business expands.

Comments from Imbiba and Pindrop Hearing

Heidi Duckworth, Partner at Imbiba, commented:

“Pindrop represents a truly premium clinical platform in a structurally growing market. Rony has built an outstanding reputation for clinical excellence and patient care. We believe there is a significant opportunity to roll out this model into other affluent locations, delivering unbiased, customer-centric audiology services of the highest quality.”

“We have always focused on providing the highest standards of clinical audiology, centred around patient care and independence. Partnering with Imbiba allows us to expand thoughtfully and sustainably, bringing our model to more communities while maintaining the standards that define Pindrop.”

Looking ahead

The investment marks the next stage in Pindrop Hearing’s development from a single clinical practice into a broader premium audiology platform.

With growing demand for private hearing care and a strategy centered on clinical quality, service, and independent product provision, the company said it is aiming to expand while maintaining its clinical focus.
