BALLERUP, DENMARK — GN has announced ReSound Sensia™, a family of premium hearing aids built on the company’s new AI platform and designed to improve access to a listener’s intended speech in complex listening environments.
The new platform combines real-time environmental classification, 4-microphone directional beamforming, and Deep Neural Network (DNN) noise reduction. According to GN, the technologies work together to identify the listening environment and automatically apply appropriate processing to help users focus on the speech they want to hear rather than simply emphasizing the loudest voice in the environment.
“Hearing aids that use DNN noise reduction can suppress background noise, but most do so without reference to what the listener actually wants to hear. In practice, this means the loudest voice in the environment is amplified, even though it is often not the one the user is trying to follow. ReSound Sensia highlights the speech people want to focus on – automatically, accurately, proven. This is made possible with a new AI platform in combination with a trio of leading technologies.”

Intelligent All-Around and AcoustIQ
ReSound Sensia, which GN describes as the world’s smallest AI hearing aid1, introduces Intelligent All-Around*, a new sound-processing approach designed to automatically adapt across both noisy and quiet environments.

At the center of the system is AcoustIQ™, which classifies the sound environment in real time and determines when specific features should be activated. GN reports that AcoustIQ provides 88% greater accuracy in classification and feature engagement compared with the closest premium solution.2
The system coordinates ReSound Sensia’s 4-microphone beamforming technology, which allows the wearer to direct focus toward a speech source by facing the person they want to hear, with a new DNN-based denoising approach that automatically provides additional support for conversations.
According to GN, testing by independent researchers at Hörzentrum Oldenburg found that the combination provided improved audibility of the intended speaker rather than simply prioritizing the loudest speech elsewhere in the environment.3,4
“We’ve taken a user-centred approach with ReSound Sensia, building in multiple technical innovations that are orchestrated by AcoustIQ, which accurately classifies the listening environment and activates each feature when the user needs it. ReSound Sensia can be trusted to engage the features that best improve hearing in noise when they are needed while not making the decision of what to hear for the listener. For HCPs this automatic engagement translates into practice outcomes as performance in difficult environments no long depends on the patient remembering to change programs”

All-Day Battery with Automatic DNN Denoising
ReSound Sensia provides up to 24 hours of battery life in the rechargeable microRIE and ITC/ITE styles, including with DNN denoising available for automatic activation.
GN says the processing architecture makes its denoising 17 times more efficient than other AI-powered hearing solutions, allowing the feature to operate without compromising all-day battery performance.

New Bimodal Options for Cochlear Implant Users
GN is also introducing ReSound Sensia™ Bimodal and ReSound Enzo™ IA Bimodal, both designed to work with Cochlear® Nucleus® sound processors (such as the company’s newest Nexa processor).
The products are intended to support integrated performance and connectivity for people who use a cochlear implant in one ear and a hearing aid in the other. The introduction represents the latest development in the companies’ Smart Hearing Alliance collaboration.
Smart Fit 2.4 Adds Support for NAL-NL3
Alongside the new hearing aids, GN is introducing updates to its professional fitting tools.
ReSound Smart Fit™ 2.4 features an updated interface designed to provide faster access to commonly used fitting functions. The software also incorporates GN’s proprietary Audiogram+ alongside the NAL-NL3™ prescriptive framework, providing clinicians with another option for individualized, data-driven fittings.
Availability
The ReSound Sensia family, the equivalent Beltone Illuminate family, and ReSound/Beltone Smart Fit 2.4 fitting software are scheduled to become available in the United States, Germany, and Austria on August 20, 2026, with additional markets expected to follow.
The Sensia portfolio will include microRIE and RIE configurations, including ZincAir 312 and 13 battery options, as well as non-wireless CIC, wireless ITC, rechargeable ITC, and rechargeable ITE custom styles.
