Audeara has secured exclusive Australian distribution rights from Shokz Health Global Limited (ShokzHear) for a customized assistive listening solution designed for educational settings, marking a new partnership aimed at addressing classroom listening challenges among school-aged children.

The agreement gives Audeara exclusive Australian market deployment rights for an adapted version of ShokzHear’s OpenLearn Small product. According to the company, the customized solution will be shaped by Audeara’s input on functionality, size, and audio tuning for the Australian education market and will be manufactured by ShokzHear.

Audeara said the agreement is intended to support deployment through government-funded programs and charitable channels, creating a commercial pathway for broader access to assistive listening technology in schools.

Focus on classroom listening challenges

According to Audeara, up to an estimated 600,000 school-aged children across Australia experience functional listening challenges, often linked to fluctuating hearing loss. The company said these challenges can affect learning, classroom participation, and longer-term outcomes, particularly in regional and remote communities.

The OpenLearn Small by ShokzHear is being positioned for use in educational environments, where speech clarity in classrooms can be difficult for some children. Audeara said it expects to place first orders later this calendar year following initial customer orders.

“We are excited to collaborate with Audeara to provide customised audio solutions for the Australian market,” said Fengyun Liao, Director of ShokzHear. “Audeara’s local market insight and experience in assistive listening technologies makes them a valuable partner as we adapt our technology platform for new applications.”

Audeara CEO Dr James Fielding said the agreement is focused on improving access to sound in environments where speech understanding is especially important.

“At its core, this agreement is about helping people access sound in environments where it matters most. Across Australia, hundreds of thousands of children experience listening challenges during critical years of learning. When speech isn’t clear, engagement drops, confidence is impacted, and opportunities can be lost. This agreement allows us to deliver at scale through fully funded programs, with a solution shaped by Audeara’s listening expertise and validated in real-world environments. Importantly, it demonstrates that solving meaningful problems can also create a scalable and sustainable commercial pathway.”

Commercial and strategic focus

Audeara said it has spent several years developing and validating listening solutions for real-world environments, with a focus on accessibility, usability, and practical deployment. The company said the solution covered by the agreement is intended to improve access to speech while maintaining comfort, awareness, and ease of use.

The company also described the agreement as part of a broader strategy to expand its hearing health platform through partnerships with global hardware providers. Audeara said the model is designed to support distribution through institutional procurement channels while maintaining a capital-efficient operating approach.

The agreement has an initial term of two years and can be terminated for cause by either party.
