ReSound LiNX
BLOOMINGTON, MN—Rarely is a hearing aid credited by anyone outside the hearing industry with changing the world. But that is just what happened when Mashable.com selected ReSound LiNX as one of “14 innovations that improved the world in 2014.” LiNX, which was introduced last January, is a Bluetooth-enabled hearing aid that allows the user to stream stereo sound directly from an iPhone®, iPad®, or iPod touch®.
Mashable, which describes itself as “a leading source for news, information and resources for the Connected Generation,” said that the 14 new health-related products it honored “aren’t just gadgets that charge your devices faster or ‘groundbreaking’ apps. They have potential for lasting impact. They can change the world.”
Among others on Mashable’s list were a 75-pound robot invented to help disabled police officers and military personnel serve as patrol officers; an implanted microchip that can deliver drugs; a wheelchair that monitors the user’s heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure; and Smartphone-based eye exams.
Mashable didn’t mention it to its tens of millions of readers, but on March 31, 2014, soon after LiNX was unveiled, Starkey Hearing Technologies introduced the Halo™ hearing aid, which also enables users to stream sound directly from their iPhone without need for a separate streaming device.

ReSound Enzo
The good news for ReSound has continued in the new year. At this week’s International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the ReSound Enzo is being honored with a 2015 CES Innovation Award in the Accessible Technologies category, the only hearing aid to be so recognized this year. Enzo is the first super-power hearing aid to bring Made for iPhone technology to people with severe-to-profound hearing loss.
According to the manufacturer, “To support the processing performed by the brain, ReSound Enzo hearing aids continuously exchange data about the user’s surrounding sound environment to optimize the hearing aid’s settings. This is made possible by the most advanced version of the patented Surround Sound by ReSound™ technology.”
The 2015 CES, being held January 6-9, is expected to draw more than 150,000 visitors, who will see products being exhibited by more than 3500 companies.
ReSound was also honored at the 2014 CES, when LiNX won a Design and Engineering Award.
