TUCSON, ARIZONA — Effective this week, Amyn Amlani, PhD, has taken over the editorship of Hearing Economics, where every week he and guest contributors will share their opinions and perspectives on a wide range of subjects impacting the hearing industry. The news comes following the announcement that editor, and creator of Hearing Economics, Holly Hosford-Dunn would be stepping away from her role at Hearing Health & Technology Matters (HHTM) in 2018.
Dr. Amlani has been a long-time contributor to Hearing Economics and currently serves as Professor and Department Chairperson, in the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology, in the consortium program between the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA-Little Rock). Additionally, Dr. Amlani directs the Hearing Aid and Augmentative Technologies Laboratory (HAATLab), a research laboratory that is funded primarily from extramural grants and corporate sponsors.
Dr. Amlani holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of the Pacific, Master of Science degree in Audiology from Purdue University, and a Ph.D. degree in Audiology/Psychoacoustics (minor in Marketing and Supply Chain Management) from Michigan State University.
Brian Taylor Named HHTM Editor-In-Chief
Brian Taylor, AuD, editor of Hearing News Watch, has been named HHTM’s new Editor-In-Chief. Taylor will be replacing Wayne Staab, PhD, who has held the role since 2015.
After seven years of writing and helping to build HHTM, and most recently serving as Editor in Chief, this position will now be held by Brian Taylor. I am confident, and pleased, that having the caliber of professionalism, ethics, and knowledge that Brian possesses will serve the site well as it continues its progression as The online source for news and information related to the discipline of hearing.

With nearly 25 years of clinical and practice management experience, Taylor has held a variety of positions in the hearing industry. He has written four books, numerous articles, and lectured extensively on a variety of topics related to clinical audiology, hearing aids, and business management. Prior to joining Fuel Medical as Director of Clinical Audiology in July 2017, Taylor has been an independent consultant and Senior Director of Clinical Affairs with Turtle Beach. Additionally, he serves as an adjunct professor for A.T. Still University at the Arizona School of Health Sciences and editor of Audiology Practices, the quarterly journal of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology.
Taylor will become the 3rd person to hold the title of Editor-In-Chief since the site’s founding in 2011.
