SOMERSET, NEW JERSEY — Oticon Inc. has announced the official launch of the Oticon Opn S in the US, with “further improvements in speech understanding and listening effort to take the open sound experience and the unique benefits of BrainHearing™ to the next level”. The new platform also boasts the company’s first lithium-ion rechargeable offering.

The company says the new platform includes an upgraded OpenSound Navigator™ and new OpenSound Optimizer™ to enhance the open sound experience for people with hearing loss and improve speech understanding in difficult listening situations at the level of people with normal hearing.1

“Oticon Opn S is a life-changing technological breakthrough with the potential to significantly improve hearing and quality of life for people with hearing loss. The brand-new Velox S™ platform is the fastest, most advanced platform we have ever developed. The OpenSound Optimizer allows patients to get even more benefit from OpenSound Navigator, resulting in tremendous clarity, overall sound quality and speech understanding.”

Wireless Connectivity and Lithium Ion Rechargeable Option

The new Oticon Opn S is Made for iPhone® and connects with smartphones and tablets using 2.4 GHz Bluetooth® Low Energy for reduced battery consumption. The ConnectClip allows the hearing aids to function like a high-quality headset, giving access to wireless streaming for music, movies, phone calls and more from iPhone® and Android™ smartphones, tablets and laptops.

For patients who want the convenience of rechargeable batteries, the new Opn S miniRITE R offers the company’s first rechargeable lithium-ion solution.  The charger is said to provide a stable, reliable magnetic connection for convenient charging that delivers a full day of power, including streaming, with a quick overnight charge.3

More Open Fittings, Optimal Gain and Less Feedback Risk

According to the company, the new Oticon Opn S introduces the OpenSound Optimizer, which is a new technology that analyzes sound at 56,000 times per second to allow access to up to 30% more speech details with more natural sound and increased comfort.2

OpenSound Optimizer prevents feedback without removing the prescribed amplification so hearing care professionals have the ability to deliver optimal gain and more open settings for patients than in the past.

New, ultra-fast detectors and a patented breaker signal proactively manage feedback, even before it occurs, to preserve audibility and quality of sound. The unique feedback breaker is said to allow the Opn S to deliver up to 6 dB more stable gain in an open fitting without increased feedback risk.2

Better Hearing Aid Performance in Noisy Situations

The new Velox S platform makes the OpenSound Navigator (OSN) more “effective in supporting the brain to help people with hearing loss interact with multiple speakers”.

Opn S wearers can “boost” the support they receive from the OSN, regardless of by activating the OpenSound Booster™, available on the ON smartphone App.

The Oticon Opn S family is being offered in three performance levels and four styles: miniRITE, miniRITE R, miniRITE T and BTE PP.
