LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — Today, Starkey Hearing Technologies unveiled the Livio Edge AI hearing aid at the Starkey Hearing Innovation Expo.
The newly announced device comes with a number of unique features, including some firsts for the hearing industry.
Livio Edge AI Features:
Thrive Care App: More than 34 million Americans are caregivers. The Thrive Care App helps caregivers keep track of a loved one’s physical activity and social engagement. The Thrive Care app is designed to provide peace of mind for care providers and to help the hearing aid wearer live independently and safely.
Balance Builder App: The CDC says every second of every day, an older American suffers a fall — making it the leading cause of injury and injury death for those 65 and older. Falls are a serious health problem that can be linked to hearing loss because of the impact on a person’s balance. The new Balance Builder app from Starkey is designed to help improve balance, stability, strength and gait. The user is guided through balance exercises and workouts, based on head movements detected from sensors in Livio Edge AI hearing aids.
Voice Activated Commands and Reminders: Using the Thrive Assistant feature in the Thrive app, patients have instant access to a world of information at their fingertips. The patient can get in-ear and on-screen notifications for tasks like taking medications or a reminder to pick up milk on the way home from work.
Self-Check Baseline: Patient-centered care is becoming patient-driven care. With Self-Check, the patient can perform a diagnostic test of the hearing aid system anytime, on their own.
Edge Mode: Activate during tough listening situations to create the most powerful listening environment possible. Crisp sound is delivered with a short burst of power when you need it most.
Lithium Rechargeable: No need to switch out tiny batteries anymore. Livio Edge AI is the first custom hearing aid with lithium rechargeable batteries.
Features Currently Available in Livio AI:
Fitness Tracking: Provides in-ear activity updates including step count.
Cognitive Activity Tracking: Measures your brain health score based on daily social engagement and active listening, which have been linked to slowing dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Language Translation: Real-time, in-ear translation of 27 languages.
Fall Detection and Alert Capability: Detects when its user has fallen and automatically alerts emergency contacts that help is needed with the user’s location.
Advanced Noise Reduction: Noisy environments are “reduced by 50%”, significantly reducing listening effort and enhancing speech clarity.
According to the company, the new Livio Edge AI will become available in February.
