TinniSoothe announced the successful close of its first equity crowdfunding campaign, raising £270,047—180% of its original goal—with support from 148 investors via the CrowdCube platform. The funding will enable the company to accelerate development of version 2 of its wearable sound therapy device for tinnitus relief.

The strong response reflects growing investor confidence in TinniSoothe’s ability to innovate and execute on its go-to-market strategy. During the campaign, the company also announced a strategic partnership with Boots Hearingcare.

The investment marks a key milestone in TinniSoothe’s mission to support the estimated 1 in 7 people living with persistent tinnitus—a condition that can significantly impact mental wellbeing and sleep. Tinnitus UK estimates the condition costs the NHS over £750 million annually, primarily in GP and ENT consultations, many of which report low patient satisfaction.

From Prototype to Patented Medical Device

Founded in 2018, TinniSoothe’s journey has been marked by resilience and entrepreneurship. The company’s co-founders bootstrapped the business from a prototype developed at a kitchen table to a certified Class I medical device approved in both the UK and EU.

Inventor Howard Presland continued development after suffering a brain-stem stroke in a windsurfing accident in 2019, which required over a year of rehabilitation. His co-founder, Jez Lawson, is a cancer survivor and advocate for Prostate Cancer UK, following his Stage 3 diagnosis and major surgery in 2023.

The oversubscribed raise will support TinniSoothe’s vision to build a sound therapy platform and expand internationally. The company aims to enhance the customizability of its neck-worn device, which delivers white noise toward the ears without the need for in-ear components—providing 24/7 relief, including during sleep. This innovation offers an alternative to traditional solutions such as hearing aids, earbuds, or mobile apps, which may be intrusive or less effective, especially at night.

The tinnitus device market is currently estimated at $3.5 billion annually, with projected 7% CAGR growth. TinniSoothe plans to contribute significantly to this expanding sector with its wearable therapy solution.
